voltage - appliances wont be able to hold much force
current mostly and purely conductive

both but the current is more closer to the damage..... because the resistance of the lamp will not be able to carry more than it's capacity ... that is why most of the circuit breaker down stream open the circuit so that the appliance will not receive a heavier current..

To me the current damages the lamp ..since the current is the flow of electrons when therd is more than normal it will cause the lamp to damage
