Arkham Asylum is the Arkham game I replay the most. The main reason for it being that it feels like a regular Batman adventure and could honestly easily take place in the comics. It's the most fun for me. Arkham City is my favourite but Asylum is for me the most replayable.

Asking someone to play Asylum after they’ve played, for example, Spider-Man is like asking a kid to play Mario 64 after they’ve already played Odyssey and Galaxy. They were both revolutionary and fantastic games when they first came out, but nowadays there’s no point when the much refined sequels exist. However, for the people who played it at launch and grew up with the evolution, it’s no big deal to go back and play again. Partly due to nostalgia, and partly due to playing these games too freaking much. So, yes, it is outdated. But it’s also a piece of history that everyone should play at some point or another, while acknowledging that it is a piece of history.

Fuck that Arkham Asylum is great. I had a friend that asked where to start I told him Arkham Asylum but don’t go in expecting Spider-man 2 but think more Resident Evil 2 in terms of structure. A great game is a great game. Your videos are dope btw

I wish there were more games like asylum that do exactly that.Origins city and knight are so epic and grand that its not like an everyday night of being batman but the night batman met the joker, joker died,batman died while asylum explores the relationship of batman and joker without having to be a world ending event

Yes, it's hard for you, a series veteran, to go back. But for someone who has never played, playing that simpler game is a better way to ease them into things. Don't tell people to skip Asylum for City, they need Asylum to prepare for City.

I just went with release order, Asylum, City, Knight,that way you get to see the games improve, if anything I think it’d be worse for someone to have all the good experiences then to be annoyed at the lack of stuff in asylum(not that asylum is bad it’s just the others are a lot better, as expected)

No it’s not outdated. It’s one of those games like portal 2 for me, the gameplays so “simple” but because it’s so refined it doesn’t get tiresome, yet regardless of playtime the game still holds challenge because of its age, sometimes the clunky camera, the auto aims and such allow for more mishaps that’ll at worst ruin a combo. The game doesn’t gets old, the gameplay doesn’t either, regardless of the jank 9 times out of 10 it’s fluid and swift, and it legitimately makes you feel like Batman. This game also gave us in my opinion the most solid Batman rogues lineup he’s had in a game, Arkham City’s close runner up, and who doesn’t like only 100 or so riddles🤷🏻♂️

Arkham asylum is a necessary starting point for those going into the Arkham trilogy, for both story and gameplay.

I don’t think the gameplay is outdated. Got the collection for the first time on switch, and it was amazing. Nothing felt outdated or out of place. I love these games!
