A giant blob of gel also won't cure properly. There's lots of videos showing under cured gel which can also cause allergies. Layers are best! Thanks Suzie ❀

I'm so glad I found your channel Suzie! My old nail tech used to tell my that I'm 'so sensitive' because my nail beds would burn like crazy. By watching your videos and doing my own nails at home, I realised that it wasn't me being 'too sensitive'. So thank you! ❀

Not only does that lower the chances of heat spikes, but it’ll minimize the risk of uncured gel.â˜ș

Hi Suzie, I love your videos ❀ I did experience the heat spike. Since watching your video, I went to the salon and eased my hand in when curing and it made a difference 🎉 thank you so much for the advice

Thank you so much Suzie. Tips like these are why you are the goat teacher of nails. Signed, a fellow Canadian from Quebec city!

I love a low heat mode on the lamp. Takes all the heat spikes out. If there isn’t a low heat mode, just starting outside the lamp works wonders. Plus, what you said. Don’t use a giant glob of gel. 😂

Wow, Thank you so much Suzie!!! I have flat nails and it is so hard to get enough product under there too. Make sure they stay on and about two or three always end up popping off when I do gel ex style nails.

My nails became so thin and painful that using a drill or soaking with acetone was unbearable,I decided to go back and try tips to add a little length and wraps . Surprisingly no more pain!!! I can use regular polish so no soaking but I added a gel top coat and it worked!!! I wait a couple hours . Only have to lightly file top off and regular polisher remove for the rest. Once the tips grow out, I could just wrap my regular nails. Who would’ve thought I would have to go back so far. Probably before your time!’ đŸ€Ł

I must need to find a new salon. Every part of the process has some sort of pain.

You are an awesome educator. Share knowledge with no judgement and you always offer multiple ways of learning skills so that all your internet students can choose the technique that best works for them.

I used to go to a girl who did my nails and if I flinched or pulled away from a reaction to pain, she would say, “oh you’re so funny”. It wasn’t one bit funny to me. She tried to make me believe that there was something wrong with me. I didn’t see her after a few visits. I gave her a $20 tip before I left so she wouldn’t forget me and then I never booked with her again. (It was 1986 so not too many people tipped $20’s back then.)

I refuse to go to a salon now Suzie, they don’t even have 1 person do 1 whole set where I am, I had one for cuticle removal and they cut me every time, then the next person comes to do acrylic, no one talks to me, just to each other in their language, then the first girl came back to file and stuff, constant heat spikes from the file and when you pull back she yells STILL! Then a different girl did the polish I walked out with nice nails but woke up the next day with little scabs all over my cuticles 😱😱😱 looked horrible!
The private techs are way better but you can’t get in, so I taught myself from watching you and Kirsty meakin!! ❀❀ I’d love to sit there and get my nails done having a nice chat with someone but instead you sit there with paranoia thinking are they talking about me 😂

You also said heat spikes occur bc the product is rapidly shrinking on your nail when its really the gel curing rapidly at about 10sec in the UV light which produces heat.

Hello,
I have been experiencing extreme itching and swollen fingers post gel polish. But when i get dip my nails are fine.
I would really like to know if there is something i can do so can i avoid and still get gel manicure.
