1 point in lockpick will get you work station books.
1 lockpick (often found at Hugh's on shelves, and a jailbreaker candy will let you run around opening 4-5 ATM's with planning. that's about 10k very early in game with a sugar butt and awesome sauce
with the buff in batons, an INT build is OP, especially if you get nerdy glasses and reach level 30. Respec with a forgetting elixir for batons and max daring adventurer. Game becomes a cake walk.

My useful tip would be that Urban combat vol. 6 book completely negates any armour movement penalty when in combat for 20 seconds after hitting any zombie and it resets after every hit, either with a melee or a gun, which makes steel armour more valiable than military armour iin every scenario

1. Setting all block damage and XP to 25% will slow the game down substantially but keep zombies from breaking through doors a LOT longer, as well as give your gear a chance to stay ahead of the difficulty curve. (I also set loot to 25% to help even things out.)
2. Both you and zombies can only jump onto the lower side of dumpsters, so you can jump on one, move to the higher side, and they will stand at your feet, unable to get up to you.
3. You can change your game settings every single time you load your save. Use this great power responsibly.

Grandpa's Moonshine was way more OP at saving one's skin, until it was just recently nerfed. It still gives 20 hp/second for 60 seconds, a massive melee damage boost (+400%), stun immunity, and massive stamina regen, but the +50% damage mitigation was just removed :( True, it blurs your vision, but your stats are so ridiculous that it almost doesn't matter, you were practically unkillable.
I'm now kinda wondedring if Fortbites would be better in an "Oh ship!" moment instead of something else. An extra 50% mitigation might do better to save your skin if you're in a situation where you're cornered or something, particularly on harder difficulties.
