While the other comment is correct about different regions of India, if you want to mimic a “generic” Indian accent this advice is pretty good. Also being aware of this type of sound difference helps me “improve” my accent

Let me correct things, mostly gujarati Indian speaking English sounds like your so called Indian accent, people from northeast India have very different English accents similarly people from south of India have different English accents. How Indian English sounds is very dependent on What mother tongue he or she speaks as it heavily influences the sound. But since there was a huge influx of gujarati in America in 90s American people have this ignorant idea of an Indian accent, truth is there is no 'one' Indian accent, there are multiple, you just happen to hear the Patel's aka gujus😂
