Akathisia—a horrifying, violent feeling of wanting to tear out of your own skin—is often downplayed by the medical community. Marcello shares his intense battle with akathisia from the antidepressant Cymbalta, exposing the lack of awareness and legal protection for those suffering from severe psychiatric medication side effects.

Words fail me to describe how absolutely angry I am at the harm that psychiatric medication has done to people like that young man and my life partner.

You feel like you need to walk around all day to shake the feeling off that never disappears. Marcello is so strong. I do agree this is the worst possible side effect. Unfortunately, doctors don’t seem to know what it is or how to deal with it. These neurological response movement disorders due to psych meds are a human rights violation.

I agree totally! Please get this to 10 million views!! This young man is strong but there are those that aren't which is even MORE concerning!

If these doctors knew it as something else why did they keep switching out meds but give another and another and another for years ...sadly, he describes this sooooooo accurate, yet we were experiencing this home alone while life went on for others, it's such a lonely feeling not know what to do to help yourself or why it was even happening. Medication induced!!!!

In 2016 I moved to another state. Had been on .5 Klonopin am and pm for 23 years. My new doctor would not prescribe them. I pleaded with him to at least wean me off. He won't do it. I went home and spent 3 months in a dark room. Could barely walk had a hold on to walls to use the bathroom I was so light-headed. I had seizures that actually threw my body out of the bed. I ended up sleeping on the floor for 3 months. The anxiety and insomnia almost drove me to suicide. By the grace of God I'm still here. I would never go back on a benzo if you paid me. Was the worst thing I ever went through in my life. Even the emergency room couldn't do anything for me. I'm glad I got through convulsions seizures anxiety and depression. In that 3 months I lost 52 lb. I couldn't eat even if I was hungry I couldn't make it downstairs to cook. I pray for anybody going through benzo withdrawal. Love you all

"I'm not okay and I will never be okay." Was the most prevalent thought I had when experiencing akathisia

Akathesia is teetering on the edge of suicide, he's accurate about everything he saying, it's horrible.

😮 😢 I am currently on these "types" of meds since my 14 year old son passed. I can't cope without medication. Yesterday, after an extreme 4 hour exposure to similar circumstances under which my son passed, I had this exact feeling. I am so deeply sorry this is your life at the moment

Thank you so much! Yes, very accurate description. I’ve accepted the situation well at this point, but not accepting it makes it worse

It's hell on earth. It's a miracle I've stayed alive for 5 years. No one can live like this. Pure internal torture non stop.

This needs to go viral. People need to be warned of the real impact these over prescribed drugs can have on a person's life. Too many suffering and too many suffering in silence.

Horrible but true. tardive dyskenisia on the other hand is horrible also, because of this movement disorder.
I will NEVER take anything again when in the description the possible side effects are listed as Akathesia or Tardive dyskenisia.
