The differences with heroes and villain is villains are aware of how the world works, they have tried everything to go against it but ultimately failed thats why they used the more harsh method to solve the problem. They are more realistic because they know that everything has a price to pay.
The heroes however starts off with their naive dreams, thinking they could change the world with their own powers, even though through out the journey they learned the harsh truth of the world they keep trying and trying.
Tbh both have the same issue theyre are hoth narrow minded about the ideals they follow, sometimes they change their views but most of the time they dont.

It's way more than that many villains try to eliminate those pains and protect others (or at least their loved ones) from it by eliminating that pain. They don't treat the symptoms they treat the disease
