We sell like 200 used cars a month.
Our inventory is probably around 300
Ainā€™t no way Iā€™m remembering all those used whips

That sales guy did the right thing. In that industry, your time is money. He just avoided wasting his time with someone who is not buying a car.

He's also not wasting your time, he's verfiying the vehicle availability so you don't stay on the phone for too long, seems professional to me.

ā€œA professionals job is to not waste someoneā€™s timeā€ says the ā€œprofessionalā€ calling dealerships to waste their time. Lmao

I work in a family owned car dealership that has multiple dealership across different cities.
GMC, Kia, Hyundai, Chevy, CDRJ.
All of these dealership take used cars and it takes a moment to update the system.

So if you sell a used car one day, you need to go check if that vehicle has been sold in a different city.
Itā€™s not just as simple as ā€œwalk your lotā€ specially with used cars.

Nothing wrong with a dedicated phone person. The lady that answered transferring him isn't bad business if she does a good job with customer service.

I feel like verifying the vehicle is still for sale would ā€œwasteā€ less of their time versus giving you a price, you drive to the dealer and we donā€™t have it when you arrive.

I get the point but I used to be in car sales as well. You learn very quickly to double check the status of every vehicle before promising itā€™s available or answering too many questions. Often times a car would be sitting on our lot or website and someone calls and Iā€™m told someone from out of state just signed paperwork and itā€™s sold. Not sure about every dealership but at mine, the most calls came in on ones that were not on the lot yet and were still being cleaned or inspected and Iā€™d have to get a rough timeline of when it would be available. My dealership had no control over what went on the website, as soon as we submitted paperwork to Stellantis that we took a vehicle in on trade or a vehicle is being shipped to us it goes on the website.

Yeah.. thats not how sales work. I actually salute the salesperson, he would be able to get your contact information and your name by writing these things down before hanging up on you.
No one seeks a vechicle and can't wait atleast 2 minutes to see if its available, NO ONE.

Thats insane bro... People are absolutely BACKWARD AF. It's the same shit in my city. Ive been trying to get a car sales job for the last 6 months & and been rejected every single time. When I call asking to speak with a sales manager & then ask them if i can come in for an interview it's either "yeah thats not really how it works" OR "our hr department is reviewing resumĆ©s. If your qualifications match someone will be in touch.".... MF's want a damn degree or some shit bro it's wild. Most of the sales people sound like they just woke up when they answer the phone šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø
