Companies are tired of paying people to do their laundry, watch their kids, and clean their house.

If the work can be done remotely, why pay for brick and morter?

They are not working from home, they are at home working when they want.

You don't work at home to the same level you work in an office because you are being watched. People like to think they work the same, they don't, productivity increases as observation increases.

Companies who own or rent buildings to run their business pay taxes or rent and they need employees there. If employees want to work from home “Deduct” all the costs that they would incur going to work from their paycheques, then watch how fast they get back to the office.

The main reason working at home doesn't make sense is that first, you do have to have an office with a door and a lock. Second, you can not take care of your babies, including your husband, cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry. You actually don't get witk done, plus you have to interact with others in order to do your job. Internet, cell phones, emails, text messages, ect, do not have the personal touch. For example, my colonel could not get x, y, and z done over the phone or email. But when I made an appointment, I could get everything I needed. Cost effective.

As a materials acquisitions professional and street location specialist I can't just sit in my tent all day, I have to get out and move about. Not all professions are stationary.

The four years years before I retired earlier this year were work at home. That saved me $400+ / month in commuting and "office" expenses. Was great.

I called customer service recently. The person answered and I could hear a baby crying in the background and pots and pans banging into each other. Sort of solved my issues tho.

Geeze, if a company can have work effectively done remotely, then they should be happy. They dont need to rent or buy a building or facility to house their operations....

I think remote work is OK a few days a week, but my credit union had some reps who weren't dedicated & they weren't as professional. One I spoke with had a lot of noise in the background and when I asked what that was, she laughed & said she was having work done on her house! I didn't think that was funny but very annoying! And other calls sounded like they were in a tunnel; poor quality headsets. They just need to do better on some things.
