Inside a box of dirty trashed James Brown albums I found this little guy sealed. Sell it sealed?? But what's on it?! Is this one of the good gospel albums??? Yes it is! I hope I've uploaded this in time to spark some memories from 1983 Beloit Wisconsin, but as long as it makes it to your ears it was worth the trouble.

This is the second time the album was ever played. The first track "How Jesus Began In My Life" is a fiery account of a little girl saved falling from a 4th story window. Lots of call and response and audience interaction. Slides into a gorgeous soulful number "Just Jesus" with some incredible guitar work and enough just enough synth to firmly place the listener in 1983. Track three "Praise The Lord" follows in a similar vein. DO NOT sleep on the title track "I've Got Heaven On Mind" ... we've been singing it around the house for days. Love that keyboard intro... if Otis Redding survived that plane crash and joined a gospel group in Beloit Wisconsin...

Side B opens with a very funky bass line and a groove that dares you sit still "I'll Fly Away" -- there's something beyond this world I believe it after hearing this one. The rest of side two is done with less of the synthesizer and all flows together beautifully. Soulful, more straightforward tunes.

This was played on a Rek O Kut B-12 Deluxe with a Stanton 681eee (stereohedron cartridge) on a 12 inch Alfred Bokrand tonearm. Had me dancing in the basement with my 13 year old. Hope it does something similar to you. I look forward to hearing recollections of this group and your feedback on this great little gem.
