"Me having to come up with a project is a failure of the world". God, I love this man.

I really wish Linus never gets old, but this is reality

That’s surprisingly a very positive and wholesome thing for him to say 😅

Torvalds is the only great person who understands that just because you had a great idea once (linux) or twice (git) doesn't mean you're uniquely poised to churn out revolutionary projects until you die. Eventually the inspiration that fueled your revolutionary projects will be completely surpassed by the inspiration your projects spark in others

The world would have happily used Unix if AT&T hadn't been such jerks and charged thousands of dollars per copy. They didn't even want Ken Thompson to develop it. He had to do it on the sly.

"No guys, you don't understand - me having to come down to earth was actually a failure of the world" Jesus probably.

man, I love Linus, he is so humble but at the same time he has so much character when having character is needed, as the head of a project in which the whole world relies

During my orientation week at Google in Mountain View, in 2007, Linus was one of the guest speakers (so was John McCain, on a different day). He was an ass back then; I remember he essentially said that "anyone who uses any version-control system other than Git is an idiot". With that said, I definitely appreciate his contributions, and I loved working w/ Linux as a teenager in the late-90s.

Linus looks like an older version of Data from Star Trek… 🤓

This man deserves a movie, a TV series, a biography, and even an anime about his life

I have an immense amount of respect for LT.
He's intelligent opinionated and only solved his problems because other didn't solve it for him. That level of pragmatism is lost on so many engineers.

Stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Your talents are better suited making something new. Solve unsolved problems.

I am a very OLD developer. That is exactly how I see it too. Us nerds are not good at seeing the frivolous things that other people want, so unless we need something ourselves someone has to request the product. Once switched on whoever, we will nail it. It's an "Aspy" thing for me.

He has a modified version "If someone can do it its not worth doing, If no one can do it I will do it".
