Family movie night was such an exciting time. Everyone would crowd blockbuster Friday night. They later had video game retails if you could show up at the right time to get a good game

Local video store was called Village Video we had blockbuster and Hollywood video as well. Hollywood video had the most but village video was so cool, free popcorn too

We were always more of a Hollywood video family, all their stuff was 5 day rentals and they were good about not charging ridiculous late fees. Unlike Blockbuster that had 1, 3 and 5 day rentals and charged late fees to people before checking in the return box to see if it actually had been brought back plus they were more expensive.
It's a shame rental places closed down, it's how I was able to play most games growing up.

Libraries basically function as rental stores as well, so it's not really a dead thing.
