I can remember seeing plastic sumps for the first time, I believe it was somewhere around 2004. Volvo FM trucks. The metal insert the bung screwed into almost always spun in the plastic. So when servicing we used to get oil+filters and a sump. Worked out well for Volvo. Thanks for sharing.

my brother has just bought a tesla 2020 model back in twice for rear light led faults after only a month , should Be interesting to see how it holds out a few years down the line with some big miles on it , crazy the tech on cars these days , cars from the early 90's are the best fuel injection , electronic ignition and abs you don't anything else .

Definitely worse, too many plastic parts that warp and leak. Vw T5 front crank seal for instance. Coolant housings, these used to be aluminium and would easily outlast the car, not now.
They are built to a price not for longevity.

That’s a 2015+ Ford 2.0 tdci engine I believe? 😀 (basically a Peugeot engine) Great engines but that plastic sump used to give me a bit of anxiety, Lol.
Also those plastic clips holding the fuel filter pipes in place were super fragile. Other than that, they tend to be a strong engine I believe

Done a few of these, modern cars are built Not to last , Not to be easily repaired, and the electrical parts on them are crap 👍

Modern cars are built out of dirt cheap materials . They are also assembled to suit the modern factory assembly line for speed . No consideration for further down the line when mechanics have to repair them. Plastic belly pans are just one example .

So when does the clip either get lost or the plastic around it breaks off 😀😆
