Q: Even though the bidet has a GFCI at the plug end, shouldn't that outlet be either an extension leg of an already protected bathroom GFCI outlet, or it be another stand alone GFCI protected outlet with two buttons on it?

When you put a GFI in a bathroom by the vanity code is to have it due to water. Your toilet seat should be the same. You need the button to reset in the room you are in.code never said pull it from another GFI.
