I think it would be highly beneficial to action if leg grabs were allowed again. They could make it similar to grabbing the belt. As soon as you take a grip you have to attack. Idk always seemed like a martial arts politics issue to me.

I whole heartedly agree without moves that stop & negate the process it becomes a "Ceremony of rule order" & not a match, Judo was invented as a sport because Jujitsu had become more ceremony than competition & match sport. We understand we don't want Organized Chaos but competition will have a unorthodox order to it.π

I was at a clinic with Neil Adams and asked him if the IJF would ever bring back leg grabs. He emphatically said no.

Tae Kwon Do wants to see high fast head kicks in competition. So head punches and leg checking are denied in the rule set. I think Judo took out leg grabs for similar reasons. Standing Ippons was what they wanted to see represent competition. π

They want to make judo a spectator sport but it never will be unless you add head punching. People want to see knockouts. All they have done is ruin it. Judo should return to the original 1890's rules.
