しめ縄作りに取り組んだのは、尾鷲市の向井小学校の全校児童16人です。
20年前から授業の一環で、地域の人達と触れ合いながら、伝統文化を学ぶために行われています。
子ども達は老人会の人たちの指導を受けながら、地元でとれた藁を使い、稲穂や松などを飾りを付けて、しめ縄を作りました。
出来上がったしめ縄は、家に持ち帰り正月用に飾るという事です。
