Left foot breaking also extends a drift if you have your car set up right. It also increases the likelihood of having full control during the drift if you need to extend. The hand break isn’t always the answer to making drifts longer. More go pedal and some stop pedal make a drift extend a lot

I honestly think the best way to learn drifting in ac is to just jump in and try it without worrying too much about different techniques. I was comfortably drifting on tight touge after 2 days of practice and I'm not that great of a player. I figured both of these out on my own as well. So if anyone's hesitating, hope this helped

I'm glad I learned with no e brake because it really gave me a feel for inertia and shifting the weight of the car side to side
Over time the only need I had for a handbrake was exactly this
Extending it during long ass slides and tight entries with no space

For extending the drift when it’s awkward here are some solutions I used to apply when I drifted, they work:
1. Carry more speed throughout the run in general, not a load more speed but just enough to keep it sideways, it might be awkward with gearing at first but you find it’s a lot more rewarding then falling back on the handbrake.
2. Wider and more aggressive transitions and more angle, this is similar to carrying more speed but generally when it’s more of a sideways angle you don’t rotate the car into the corner as much if you hold the correct speed.
