Thats nuts. But it is the same for me. My prescription is a -4 near sighted. I can't see faces clearly from a few feet away but I can hit baseballs in the 90mph cage slightly less as good as with my contacts. It surprised the hell out of me when I did it the first time. I chock it up to muscle memory as well.

I did that with baseball and football.... then until my junior year it hard with glasses..then I got contacts game changer but I had to practice a fuck ton.
With baseball I learn how the ball to bat sound to help depth, speed and where the ball went...
