forearm isolation is excruciating but the pump is insane afterward

i was literally having a conversation with my friend about this, we both follow more or less the same training plan, but i use straps for any pulling exercise and he doesn’t, and his forearms are INSANE.

If one wants massive forearms, there‘s no way without training them isolated, such as using dumbbells for that specific area

if grip isn't a limiting factor for your pulling exercises, you aren't lifting hard enough 🤷🏼‍

If i can fully grip (not thumbless grip) the weights comfortably on pull exercises, that’s when i know my forearm would do the job.

Or simply Train forearm and grip with isolations, and use straps for all your upper/lower body exercises where strong grip is required so you can maximize back, hamstring and glutes growth. They Will grow even better that way without sacrificing your other muscles

it might sound ridiculous but forearms were the reason that made me go to gym as I had a really skinny forearms.

it still is my main focus and hasn't gotten to the point where I am satisfied with them, but the amount of progress makes me happy. truely an underrated muscle

You should always use straps if you think your forearms will be the limiting factor if you want to grow your back as best as you can. Just isolate your forearms as well and you’ll grow better in both your back and forearms

I developed tennis elbow and am currently in my 9th month of forced training pause because I ignored forearm inflammation while training (I thought it was just regular soreness). So yes, forearm training is nice, but be careful and listen to your body.

Banded wrist curls with a weight attached everyday and only have 10kg and do 100 reps. The pump is what you’re looking for. Arm wrestlers know best.

I like training forearms directly, especially with deadhang and wrist rotation.

Oddly enough forearms are one of those things I’ve never really had to train directly. They’re not exactly massive or anything, but they’ve always been proportional, lean and strong.

For body weight do finger pushups of say 6-10x3 for 2-3 times a week.
