Actually I did a paper in college on this, turns out people can contract HSV hours after something has come in contact with it. There was an article where multiple people from a gym had contracted HSV and after an intensive investigation they found that a particular gym member wasn’t cleaning the exercise bikes she used, and multiple people became infected. Weird as it sounds, there are strains of genital herpes that can live a long time on surfaces.

This is BS. There's type 1 and 2 herpes, type 1 is oral, type 2 is genital, almost everyone that's ever had sex has at least 1 of the two types, they just don't know it because they've never shown symptoms. If dad got type 1 he didn't get it from daughter shaving her pubes with his razor, type 1 can only come someone with type 1, type 2 doesn't present symptoms in type 1 region (oral), and type 1 (oral) wouldn't show symptoms in type 2 region (genital). Dad either kissed someone with active herpes (which can still infect for several days before and after they get the blisters), or he drank from the same glass as someone with an active case.

That doesn't make any sense. Millions of people have oral herpes. You cant tell the difference between genital and oral herpes except that one is on the lips and the other decidedly lower. They are called cold sores by the squeamish. So the wife wantsto divorce him for cold sores?
