I’m from the carribean and we don’t open umbrellas in the house - so not exclusive to Asia but it’s good to see another culture have it in common

That is a Caribbean thing. No whistling it will call the dead, don't open the umbrella it will bring bad luck, don't say goodbye after a funeral; always say see you tomorrow the dead might carry you with them and don't leave a broom by the door way it says no guest allowed.

We Turks also don’t whistle at night because you invite / call the evil spirits if you do.
& we don’t cut our nails when it’s dark because it may shorten your lifespan.
We also don’t chew gum when it’s late at night because then you are chewing on the bones of your deceased family members (???)
There are many more superstitions but these are the only ones I can come up with rn🤭

In ireland, we consider opening an umbrella indoors to bring very bad luck. I dont think its an asian superstition. We also have a superstion against magpies. A single magpie brings bad luck so always look out for the second. The verse goes , 1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, 3 for a girl, 4 for a boy, six for silver, seven for gold, eight for a se ret never to be told. And while definitely not an irish superstition, we also touch wood right after saying something unlucky about ourselves or other people.
