It is February and I am getting lots of eggs.
Sprouted wheat, oats, barley and sunflower seeds.
I throw it out in their yards and they hunt for their seeds. It is cold and short days but they run out looking for this stuff unless it is too snowy and they can not get through their chunnels. If that is the case I throw it in their deep bedding inside the coop and they spend the day stirring their bedding!
I also soak 4 qts dry organic layer pellets from Grange-Coop (16% Protein) and add one cup of alfalfa pellets to it to the whole mix and add hot water to soak it all up.
Everyone gets a 1/2 cup serving of wet food in a rubber feeder pan. They would rather eat that then dry pellets. It is also helpful to keep them hydrated when the weather is down in the low 20s and the water freezes.
