After removing the old finish I sanded to 10K (4-10K was wet) Then I took my 3x4 SurfPrep sander and CAREFULLY went from medium to fine on just the wood. The 90° pad actually made it pretty easy to get the narrow sections of wood, because there was no way I'd be able to tape off the epoxy like some do for river tables. After that I applied the usual Rubio 2C Pure. I did end up buffing some polishing compound but it honestly made zero difference.
