See exactly. consequences are necessary. but they are also detrimental if you dont help the child grow, especially if its at a young age. If you just berate the kid over and over without helping them see how to improve the consequence is meaningless, because its not a consequence, its a way to get your anger out. thats not how it should be

I definitely don't like consequences for not paying taxes. π I don't think taxes are at all fair but of course I submit to these things as a member of society.
I think that's a part of it, is teaching them we do things we don't like.
The entitled don't see a lot of that modeled, they at least seem to think of adults as always getting their way and they never get their own way.
I make sure to complain in front of my child to a mild degree π
Especially if she's been complaining. I say "well I really don't want to do the dishes, but I have to!" Etc.
The first few times I did that (few times for a child with ASD and PDD), it was like a lightbulb went on. I didn't make a huge show and encourage whining but just the complaint and what we do about it.
It's a necessary thing I don't like, but it's necessary to be healthy and have clean dishes etc....so it's worth it.
I don't think there's anything wrong with teaching them that as they get older. When young there's not "is it worth it?" Because they don't understand being dirty can legitimately end them up on antibiotics or with decayed teeth etc.
(As I know is spoken of here often! β€ That line between respecting authority of mom and/or dad vs when they can start to reason
