German engineering sux, no better than anyone else. As a former marine diesel mechanic, (marine as in boats on the water not military) I have worked on many, many, many MANN and MTU German marine diesels fitted in 45 to just over 100 ft yachts and I'll take a CAT over the German engines any day.
