In 2022, I had a well drilled on 4 acres in the Ozark mountains. We ended up going 630 feet down. Great pressure and the water is crystal clear and delicious. Total cost: $14,000 including the pressure tank and all piping to the house. That seems like a lot but I will have water for many years. Side note: I purchased a 10,000 BTU gas/propane generator to run the well pump, and had it wired into my electric panel with a transfer switch in the event of loss of electric power

Drilled mine back in 2018. Got over 220 gallon per minute. Yes thats correct. The drill stopped because the water pressure was greater than the compressor. Water was exploding back and the contractor couldn't even hold the little bucket. Mines 499' deep and drilling was about 8-9K. That was just to drill and cap off. The plumber took it from there and dropped the pump.

Brings back memories, worked on one of these in the late 70's. $10/foot, minimum $1000 to cover set up and tear down. There was a boom off our setup that was would pile up all the drilling debris. Bossman said minimum 4 gallons/minute to run a four person household. Very hard work unless we hit bedrock, then you just had to fill up a tank with rock oil every once in a while. Really enjoyed the job. One artesion well, that was very cool. Water was still coming 20 years later.

My dad back in 1930's, had a well drilling service. He went to WWII, when he returned adter sending all his pay home, his dad and brother just took over so he left for California! He was broken. He returned to New Jersey to work as a soil engineer working on the NJ Turnpike, started his own business, do very well and had little to with them after that! I was.always so proud of his work ethic which tramsferred to me!! Loved that man!

Northwest CT. Drilled down 260’ and got a wonderful vein of cold water. About 30gpm. It was artesian so it ran out the top of the well! After capping my driller set up a hose and said “run this constant for 2-3 days before you hook it up into the house to make sure sediment is settled.” After doing that the water was stunningly cold and clear and perfect tasting. I was so so so happy with that well. The guy who drilled walked around my property with dousing sticks and picked the spot based on that. I’m not kidding. That well was the best water I have ever had in my life. I thought about putting in a bottling plant and selling it! This was in 1987 or 1988 and it cost $8000. The truck had easy access up until the last 40 feet and then the driller had to pick his way to the exact spot.

Back in the 80s, we had to drill for water. The company we hired said that they would get water for $2,000, no matter how far they had to drill. After 7 holes (over 1000 feet combined) and twice reworking the equipment, Mr. F hit water at 72 feet (thanks to a dowser, sometimes called a water witch). We got 32 gallons a minute.
