The poor gas station knife is strapped down like a horror movie victim. Hilarious.

As a long time supporter, this testing methodology controls the variables better than the first video and leaves less room for argument. Point proven, well done.

Duh. The rainbow coating was designed to protect the blade while cutting rainbows. Everybody knows that.

I would be more scared of breaking the maxamet than scratching the DLC.

Now THIS is Science! As someone with DLC blades myself, your video has actually made me A LOT less worried about the coating getting scratched. Much appreciated. If you happen to read this comment, would you be willing to test the DLC coating on Spyderco knives? I'm sure it's legit, but it looks so much more like a PVD coating to me that I've always wondered how tough it actually is.

Actually really helpful. I just recently got a couple knives with dlc coating and since black coatings show scratches from miles away I was really worried about scratching my new expensive knives, even with the name “diamond-like coating”. Great video!

I could’ve explained the DLC thing. I have 3k rounds through my AR and the BCG’s DLC finish is absolutely pristine.

Well, clearly, dude, it's actually because you didn't try to clean the scratches off the rainbow one, duuuhhh (I'm kidding.)

You definitely just adjusted the scale measurement

This is a joke, clearly the rainbow one is trash, keep up the good work

It was never a doubt that the higher quality knife would survive the scratches, people were talking about how you held the knife differently, which seemed weird

Ha! I liked that test! Never doubted, I just do not have the balls to test that on my knives 😅

DLC coating is more scratch-resistant, but TiN adheres better to steel surfaces. Because of its high hardness, DLC tends to fragment when subjected to impact. Both are excellent, but they have their advantages and disadvantages.
