I’ve always believed there was a God, but never that he was ACTUALLY in my life until some sh!t went down and I asked for him to show me he’s there. I don’t subscribe to any religion but I do pray to Him because in my case, I asked to show me he was there and he did. If you want to know for yourself, ask him, he’ll prove he’s there.

I have lived my entire life without a faith or a god. This has made me into a person who doesn’t seek constant guidance, like an immature child, from an authority, but rather to look within for what is right and true in life. This has made me a more generous and compassionate person compared to people I know who believe in a god, because it comes spontaneous to me from within my person as a human being and not in relation to a book and/or a deity. I have worked many years as a teacher and part from the curriculum, empathy is one of the most important things for children to learn. What is obvious to me is that the most empathetic children I have met are not the ones who live in religious homes but the ones with no religion at all around them, with parents who are empathetic and who act as role models. The religious kids need their rules and constant reminders of right and wrong, because that’s the way they are taught the difference. And so, that is what they will need as adults, since they never got to build those core values within themselves, unrelated to a book or an invisible authority. The other kids know within what’s right or wrong because they were brought up by empathetic role models who carried their moral values and beliefs within them. Religion creates people who need constant guidance on how to be good, moral people. Empathy creates people who carry their moral values and truths within themselves at all times. They don’t have to believe to find out what’s right, they already know.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." ~ C. S. Lewis

Atheist, non-believer, nurse….. have never needed superstition, belief , or faith in any “god” to love and give to people of all types and backgrounds. But if choosing to believe there is some higher purpose for your life…or some ultimate judge in the clouds gets you to be a better and decenter human being…. Believe what you want. But don’t go around using your belief as a cudgel in order to judge, condemn or force others to your path.

Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse,
and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.
Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you;
reprove a wise man, and he will love you.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;
teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

Yes, I agree I’ve lived a happier life choosing to believe in God. Choosing to love others, choosing to support and love those at church who are finding their way.
