In Northern Canada I have seen trapper cabins with bear resistant doors. 4 inch wrought nails through the inside to the outside at about shoulder height. Bears will stand on their haunches and push with tremendous force on the door with their front paws. The nails usually make that move impossible.

I watched a medium sized black bear oeel the sliding door iff if a 1972 chevy van. Just put his claws in the little 1/4 inch crack and bent it open in about 3 minutes. Just to get to a pie that my buddy left in the mini fridge. I asked him if he'd never seen a Yogi the Bear cartoon before. Because oie was always one of Yogi's favorite things man.

This guy is one of the best primitive craftsman, I've ever seen. Though he uses a chainsaw, at times, the majority is traditional hand tools, and even invents his own.

You can take it further and create a spike mat out of wood. Like an angry welcome mat for when you leave your cabin for some time. Can do the same with a slide on plate for the door

One more thing about this door…it opens OUT. Bears use their massive weight to push, but pulling doesn’t play to their strength.
