They can believe what they want to believe. The fact is that no archeological evidence was found to support what they believe.

The temple was located in the City of David as there is the only water source in the whole of Jerusalem. The Dome of the Rock is built on the old roman fort called Fort Antonia.

Rebuilding the temple will do nothing. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I think you’re forgetting that there is a rock underneath the dome of the rock and the temple was built on top of that specific rock

I appreciate your careful scholarship on this matter. You make a good point here.

Something another researcher said has stuck with me. The gospel authors wrote of going "up" to the temple. Excavations show Old Jerusalem was quite a bit lower than it is today. Since the temple was built on bedrock (a former threshing floor), then the sight of the temple, and a trip up to the temple, were even more dramatic and noteworthy than today.

The place where the Dome of the Rock sits and the Wailing Wall is not the location of the Temple destroyed in 70 AD. It was a Roman fort named "Antonia" used to house the Roman soldiers, according to Josephus. The 2nd Temple was actually in the Kidron Valley in the City of David, where there is the only natural spring named the Gihon Spring. The priests needed running water to ritually bathe and wash away the blood and offal from the sacrifices. They would not have hauled tons of water to where people think the Temple was. They would have used this natural spring which still runs today.....

("He captured ancient Jerusalem using a vulnerability in the water shaft of the Gihon Spring, which emerged from a cave above the Kidron Valley on the eastern slope of what would come to be known as the City of David. From there, water flowed into the valley (2 Samuel 5:8).

"David then took up residence in the fortress and called it the City of David. He built up the area around it, from the terraces inward." (2 Samuel 5:9–10)
David’s son Solomon was anointed as king at the Gihon Spring at King David's order. The Temple that he built required large amounts of water for “bathing and ritual immersion, rinsing animal sacrifices and cleaning sacrificial blood.” (Temple Mount)

The Shiloah (Siloam or Silwan) inscription, which was written 2,700 years ago during the reign of King Hezekiah, states that the work on the tunnel began at both ends simultaneously and proceeded until the stonecutters met in the middle. It was discovered inside the Hezekiah tunnel, which brings water from the Gihon Spring to the Pool of Siloam, located in the City of David in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Shiloah.")
From Messianic Bible - Living Water

Yeshua (Jesus) foresaw the destruction of the walls of Jerusalem, which were destroyed by the Romans after Jerusalem fell in AD 70.

While He was on the Mount of Olives, just prior to His entrance into Jerusalem on a colt, Yeshua wept over the destruction that would come upon the city because of our rejection of Him, saying:

“If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.… They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.” (Luke 19:42–44)
Also, Jesus said, "...not one stone will be left upon another.."
He also prophesied the destruction of the Second Temple:
"Yeshua left the Temple and was walking away when His disciples came up to Him to call His attention to its buildings. ‘Do you see all these things?’ He asked. ‘Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.’"
(Matthew 24:1–2)
There is a whole wall, called the Wailing Wall, where Jews worship. This would make Jesus a liar! The true place of the 2nd Temple, literally, has not one stone upon another! IT WAS IN THE CITY OF DAVID, THE KIDRON VALLEY!
Archeologists are finding and proving that this is where the 2nd Temple was, and will eliminate the problem of getting the Dome of the Rock off to build the 3rd Temple. Israel is realizing now that this is where the Third Temple should be built, and are starting to make plans to build it.
DNA has found descendants of the priestly tribe of Levi, the Kohanim, that are being trained and prepared for the priesthood.
📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖
Although Vespasian had not wanted the Second Temple destroyed, it was completely toppled.
Apparently, a Roman soldier threw a torch into the Temple and a tapestry caught fire. The blaze spread rapidly through the Temple and a great quantity of gold melted, pouring down through the stones.
Once everything cooled, the soldiers pried the stones apart to gather the gold. In the process, every stone was thrown down, just as Yeshua prophesied.
During the time of Solomon and of Nehemiah, the walls also encompassed the City of David, an area south of the Temple Mount.

"I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give Him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth." (I

They have been digging under the dome of the rock and around it for decades they did NOT find a single sign that there was ever a temple, The ground under the dome of the rock and about 1 mile around it is about to collapse from all the digging.
