The soft start is essential in a router of this power as is the speed control. I was using a template for this project and found the handles to give me great control and comfort. They are placed low which make the router very stable.

I have been making cabinets for over 20 years and I have had many different routers by many different manufactures, and I have to say this router fails on many levels. A 1/4 in collet was not included, why, corporate greed is after the 30$ for an after sale purchase when it could be included. There is no fine adjustment only one big coarse screw, even after being set to where you want it, the bit moves when it gets locked down. It does not work well for under table operations, as the lower retainer nut does not raise above the table top, so the lower wrench must be put on before you raise the router to loosen the top nut. At close to 500 $ you do not get your moneys worth, as there are many mush better routers for less out there, so shop carefully and check for the real reviews.
