As a player, the best combination I’ve ever played was Gaboon ebony back and sides paired with a Carpathian spruce soundboard. As a hobby builder I’ve enjoyed working with EIR (which bends and fills very easily) and Carpathian as well but it pales in comparison to the aforementioned ebony/Carpathian guitar that was built by an experienced luthier. Off the rack I’m pretty basic: Honduran mahogany and Adirondack spruce or EIR and western red cedar.

That's another very beautiful one.
I was on the airplane today coming home I met a guitar player, has his own recording studio in Burbank and is a producer his father's in the music business and his wife is an actress actually in Tallahassee doing a show right now.
I gave him the link to your website He's coming up to Spokane this weekend to play a concert that I will be attending.

Favourite tone wood? Maple back and sides, spruce top.
Not for everyone, but it works for me.

Absolutely beautiful. And I don’t usually love overly glossy wood. But DAMN. ❤

I'm a fan of both Mahogany (real or most of the faux Mahogany species), and East Indian Rosewood. Id say my favorite is probably EI Rosewood; Brazilian usually sounds a bit brighter kindve like a glassy Mahogany.

Top wise? Probably a slight edge on Mahogany-on-Mahogany with Sitka, Adirondack or Cedar all being perfectly lovely on a Rosewood.

i know its standard. i know its cliche. but to me its hard to beat a high grade sitka spruce. especially if its torrefied.

Koa, but there is something unique and amazing about the tone of sassafras.
