Is this some stupid mac thing? I know I can set any aspects ratio on any of my monitors. Some Dell monitors even allow splitting it into several monitors with desired aspect ratios

Problem: my ultra wide monitor can't render 16:9 on one side.
Solution: get rid of it and use a 14 inch display of mac book.
If you like no display its fine.

simple solution is have something else open in the empty space.
set the aspect you want on the mac then drag the window up into your external and donāt resize and the. fill the empty space with like a iterm window. or something like gpt on the side if you use it. its easy to use.

Iām also a software engineer and I also live the single monitor life but thatās just because I have shortcuts to jump me to the programs I need instantly. I donāt need two monitors to have slack and neovim and a web browser open.

I feel like the best way to do a one-screen setup is by using vim-like hotkeys and a tiling window manager to quickly switch and resize windows
