آپ حاجی امداد اللہ مہاجر مکی اور شیخ محمد محدث تھانوی کے ہم عصر اور رفیقوں میں سے تھے ۔ حافظ صاحبؒ حضرت میاں جی نور محمد صاحب جھنجھانوی کے اولین خلفاء میں سے تھے۔
آپ تحریک آزادی ہند کے قائدین میں سے تھے
جب حافظ صاحب کی ناف کے نیچے گولی لگی یہ 24 محرم الحرام 1274ھ مطابق 14 ستمبر 1857ء پیر کا دن اور ظہر کا وقت تھا تو حضرت گنگوہی آپ کو کاندھے پر اٹھا کر قریب کی مسجد میں لے آئے اور حافظ صاحب کا سر اپنے زانوں پر رکھ کر تلاوت کلام اللہ میں مشگول ہو گئے آنکھوں میں آنسو بھرے ہوئے تھے اسی عالم میں یہ شہید الفت اپنے محبوب حقیقی سے جا ملا ۔
حضرت گنگوہی آپ کی نعش اٹھا کر دشمن کی نظر سے بچتے ہوئے ۱۸ کلومیٹر پیدل جنگل کے راستے شاملی سے تھانہ بھون لے آئے اور راتوں رات تدفین عمل میں آئی۔
