Provincial kids often use bolo/machete for everyday life, it's not that surprising 😅
I grew up also using them for chopping woods, cutting tall grass, etc... it's fun using it but its very important to sharpen them at all times. It's dangerous once it becomes a bit dull, the blade might bounce off or slide. I got an accident like that, my bolo bounce due to dullness, it hit between my hands and wrist and got a huge laceration 2 inches long.

This is just standard fresh buko service anywhere. They will cut you a spoon to eat the coconut meat after you finish the coconut water.
What’s unusual is the 12 yr old child labor with awesome machete skills.
When I order fresh buko I would ask for “Mala Uhog” (cold snot in English) for a young coconut meat that’s very soft and gelatinous to eat. Which if you could guess it resembles a cold snot. Despite of it looks tastes delish.
The coconut monger would tap on several coconuts with a machete to determine by sound if it has thick or soft coconut meat.
