How Close the Axis Came to Winning WWII | Turning Points of History

World War II was a global conflict that could have ended very differently. By 1941, the Axis powers—Germany, Italy, and Japan—were at the peak of their dominance. Germany controlled most of Europe, Japan had launched a devastating campaign across the Pacific, and the Allies were struggling to hold the line. But how close did the Axis come to winning the war?

Key moments show how the tides could have turned. If Germany had won the Battle of Britain, the invasion of the UK might have left Europe entirely under Axis control. In the east, Operation Barbarossa nearly brought the Soviet Union to its knees. A successful capture of Moscow could have forced the Soviets to surrender.

In the Pacific, Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor crippled the U.S. Pacific Fleet. A decisive follow-up strike could have delayed America’s recovery and secured Japanese dominance over the region. For a time, it seemed like the Axis was unstoppable.

But pivotal moments changed history. Victories like the Battle of Midway, the Soviet stand at Stalingrad, and the Allied landings on D-Day turned the tide of the war. These events shattered the Axis momentum and showcased the resilience and determination of the Allied forces.

All that but don't forget that the U.S. was economical strong and was the ONLY nation involved that could actually feed itself and it's expanded military.

no they didnt... all these are "what ifs" are stupid. Wars are about resources both manpower and materiel, the Axix powers won tactical victories but strategicaly they were never going to win.
