Own a body shop and they are the worst to deal with. It's actually to the point i dont take allstate customers anymore along with a few others. And heres the thing in my state the insurance company decides whos at fault and the consumer has basically zero rights. They cant even request oem parts like they used to before the insurance companies took over bribing their way to control. The last allstate adjustor i had over wanted me to do things that i deamed unsafe like sectioning a high strength steel frame and straightening the big part instead of replacing it. And only used or Chinese parts and they wanna pay half for paint and ask me to burn in every paintjob which will fail in a yr. Now these customers dont want their car to be worse than new they want it back to pre crash condition and thats fair but allstate has zero intentions of doing it. Farmers insurance has been the absolute best to work with they just want you to take care of their customer and make them whole even when its fishy they dont question it and pay. When i take it apart and find more they just ask for pics emailed and a supplement is written and ready in an hr. A bit slow to pay but they always pay.

You're paying for the ability to drive without committing a misdemeanor (driving without insurance). For a lot of people, it's not about the coverage, it's about the insurance being cheaper than the fines for driving without insurance. If you're broke, you have no other options other than find the cheapest thing and pray nothing bad happens

When I switch customers over, I hear absolute horror stories of what they’ve dealt with at Allstate. I’ve also been on the phone with clients helping them cancel their policies, and the reps from Allstate teeter on the edge of illegal with some of the things they’ll say to try and retain customers

My house burned down with a car in the garage. The house was insured with Farmers and the car with Allstate. Farmers immediately paid out the maximum, including the extra for rebuilding, and were very accommodating in getting me alternative housing. Allstate fought the payout of the car for years. They sent comps from thousands of miles away and even in other countries. The craziest thing was that they said my car didn’t have a back door when they insured it, so they were going to deduct the cost of a back door from the payout. They asked me to provide evidence that the car had a back door when I bought it (new). Eventually they did pay out what they should have but it was just a crazy experience.
Edit: by back door, I mean the trunk door of the SUV. They said it did not have that when I bought it, as in it had a gaping hole in the back. One of the comps they sent had been rear-ended and did not have a trunk door.

I never had to make a claim when I jad Allstate, but I changed insurance when I moved to a different state because they kept dropping the ball on changing my coverage for the move and I wasn't able to get my license for my new state as a result. If they can't even do something basic like that, I don't want to know what it's like dealing with them if I, god forbid, get in an accident.

Allstate is cheap because all you're paying for is dividends and commercials
