Plant Lovers! I have had NO success with Cattleya's because I can't grow them with heat outside nor do I have the right spot inside....so trying to find cooler growers and seeing if they can manage the winters outside has been the challenge...WELL! Success! Ish....just one flower but still, it's beginning! Both are cooler growers; one is a species plant Cattleya skinneri var Alba, the other is a primary hybrid called Cattleya claesiana flamea which is a cross between Cattleya loddigesii and Cattleya intermedia. They have both managed my outside conditions, undercover but no heat, and lived to tell the tale with flowers! Hurrah! We'll just have to beef them up for a better showing next season!

Congrats!! That’s a beautiful cattleya, but to me it doesn’t look like a skinneri, the labellum looks different and the flower in general seems to have more substance/waxiness.😊

congrats. Soon you will find them so easy to grow. Well at least I do compared to all my other orchids. There's no reason you would struggle more. In fact I know you would do amazing with laelia anceps, guarianthe aurantiaca (and their millions of hybrids like slc jewel box, young-min orange or the Free Spirit. You would also be able to grow cattleya walkerianas, cattleya schillerianas and cattleya bicolors really well. In fact after growing those three you will wonder what all the fuss was about. They do get a bad rep from some growers, either because they are cooler growing or becuse they are bifoliates but knowing your experience and climate I know they would thrive for you and you would love them for being so easy compared to the struggles you seem to have had so far with hot growers.
