This quite literally a lie.
Yes, both the Axe and the Knife "work" when splitting up wood.
But SWINGING your Axe the way it DESIGNED to be used makes it much MUCH easier to split wood in comparison to a knife.
And if you disagree, you likely....
A- Never chopped ANY wood before.
or
B- Are NOT the sharpest tool in the shed.
