It is important to keep the wound HYDRATED & infections at bay for better aesthetic outcome

* Keep it Clean: Cleanse the wound gently with mild soap 🧼and water 💦 to remove debris. No need to use and disinfecting solutions at this point. Avoid harsh cleansers & hot water that may irritate / sensitise the skin.

* Apply Ointments or Creams: Use prescribed creams to promote healing and prevent infection 🦠. These might include antibiotic creams, petroleum jelly, or silicone-based gels.

🧴As mentioned , hydration is the key. Petroleum jelky acts as a sealant that prevents trans epidermal water loss . So apply the oint given / a moisturiser and coat it up with Vaseline.

😌Silicon gel helps again with keeping the wound moist. I prefer gel sheets over gel as they stick onto the skin, stay in place and offer hydration for longer periods . They also help in protecting the wound from external insults.

* Protect with Dressings: Cover the wound with a sterile dressing or bandage to shield it from dirt, bacteria, and further injury. Change dressings regularly as advised by the doctor if you have to do it at home . Or visit the clinics if advised to do so

* Pressure dressings : after surgery / pressure clips after ear piercing will help in minimising scar tissue . It has to be worn for long periods like 12-16 hours a day for few days for it to be effective.

* Minimize Scarring: Avoid picking 🙅🏻‍♀️at scabs or removing healing tissue. Use sunscreen on healed wounds exposed to the sun to minimize scar discoloration.

* Monitor for Signs of Infection: Watch for redness, increased pain, warmth around the wound, or pus, which might indicate infection. Seek medical attention if these signs appear.

* Follow-up Care: Attend follow-up appointments ( to track progress ) and get treatments advised.

- Treating a wound in the early stages will minimise major aftermaths 💁‍♀️

- It could be a simple peel / laser treatment ( to reduce pigmentation ) steroid injections ( if the doctor feels scar tissue formation is excess - when treated early , keloids can be minimised )
