I'm a pilot's daughter and used to work for my dad at my town's tiny airport. I was the one you'd talk to on the radio, giving windspeed and local traffic to the pilots. This made me tear up.

I was on a United flight from Frankfurt Germany to Dulles. After landing, we taxied through a line-up of fire trucks spraying the plane with the announcement of this being the pilots last flight due to mandatory retirement at age 65. His whole family was on board, and the plane erupted in applause.

We need to let controllers work past 65, at least in smaller airports. That would be great for safety, training, and would offer unlimited experience
