What Gospel are you reading? It was the religious leaders who rejected the Messiah. Thousands upon thousands accepted him in greater Israel but Jerusalem, steeped I'm their own traditions did not. That is the main focus of the Book of John.
Even in Acts 2 it was Jews who came to believe on Pentecost. In Acts 28 it was Paul talking to the Jews and some believed while others rejected.
Your theology on this is pretty off.
