1. Direct seed after last frost.
Zinnias can be started indoors but those that are direct seeded are stronger and produce more blooms. Plant after last frost to ensure it wonβt be damaged by cold.
2. Plant in full sun.
Location matters! Zinnias love the sun. Plant where it can receive at least 6 hours of direct sun.
3. Feed, Feed, Feed
Plant in fertile soil with lots of compost and organic materials. If using commercial fertilizer, choose one with low nitrogen.
4. Water thoroughly and regularly.
Keep the soil moist but not soggy so ensure proper drainage.
5. Pick your flowers.
Remove withered flowers or pick them earlier to enjoy indoors or give as gifts to friends. Picking the flowers encourage the zinnia plant to produce more bloom.
