The mission to assassinate the Third Hokage is one of the significant events in Konoha's history. Before his death, the Third Hokage was targeted for assassination twice, with the second attempt occurring when Orochimaru allied with the Sand Village to attack Konoha. However, in reality, he also had an enemy within his own village. Danzo, a man who always sought to become Hokage, never abandoned his ambitions, especially as the village needed a new Hokage after the previous generations had left. At that time, Kakashi's generation was still too young, creating a generational gap during the village council.

After Danzo's assassination plot was exposed, he faced charges for this crime. However, the Third Hokage, with his compassion, chose not to pursue the matter and instead hoped that Danzo would contribute fully to the village. But Danzo, unrepentant, warned that the Hokage's kindness might one day bring harm to him. This tension highlights the conflict of leadership and power within Konoha.
