Sometimes you wonder if this is made intentionally obtuse ... In Germany, rough lumber prices are given in €/m³, and dimensional lumber in €/m (linear stuff) or €/m² (sheetgoods). Easy to calculate or compare and no conversion table needed ...

A really easy way is to take... length x width x thickness then divide that number by 144

Nice tip. Thinking of enrolling in your router class. I have a Palm and a plunge. I'm having a tough go of it.

Hi there. Why did you start your explanation on the square with the number 12?

Why did you go to the 12?

And what about if the board of lumber is not one inch thick when using a framing square to calculate board feet of lumber?

What would get on 'board' with the metric system ?

Thanks for the video, but you didn’t explain why you went to 12 on the framing square. Is it where you always start. Sorry I am diyer and don’t know much about woodworking.
If you always start at 12 then numbers below start with 8 (length of the board), what if your lumber is less than 8’ long?

So this works for just a 1ā€ board? Sorry I’m just not sure how you accounted for the thickness?
