Oddly enough I have a very similar experience with when I started playing bass, I watched that very video of Paul Grey teaching it, and tried learning it the tuning they use for the song, but on a normal 45-105 set of strings, it was floppy as hell but when I could start hearing the bass in songs, and when I could actually hear the bass in this song, i was like what the hell.. is.. that?! Anyways, this video is great Cici, great playing! 🤘🏻

I first discovered bass when seeing a video of Paul Gray teaching this song. I don’t know why I was drawn to bass specifically, but it was a very strong gut feeling. I began playing just before my 12th birthday, and this was one of the first songs I learnt, on my third week. I didn’t realise Paul used a pick so I learnt it fingerstyle. I played this at my first gig three months after I started playing bass, a solo slot at Worcester music festival. I was lucky enough to get this Paul Gray signature bass as a Christmas gift a year later, and I’m so grateful to own it.
