Naushad Ali's genius lay in seamlessly blending classical music with popular sensibilities. He is credited with popularizing the use of classical ragas in film scores, a feat that continues to influence generations of music directors.
His journey began in 1940 with his first independent film, Prem Nagar. But it was Rattan (1944) that catapulted him to success. Throughout his career, he delivered a staggering number of hits – 35 silver jubilees, 12 golden jubilees, and a phenomenal 3 diamond jubilees.
In recognition of his immense contribution to Indian cinema, Naushad Ali was bestowed with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1981 and the Padma Bhushan in 1992.
