The appropriate thing to do would be when she said "just as friends" would be to say immediately that you wanted to use these tickets to go on a date and if you are not ready for that now I completely respect your wishes and understand, but you would like to use them on a date with someone special. We can keep hanging out as friends and I will use the tickets for a date.
