Timely video🎉
Under cardboard is where I find red worms and earth worms in my garden and orchard. Know that finding these helpful critters there is a good sign. I relocate some into my potted/container ornamental/vegetable/herb garden to live in while adding fresh worm castings into the potted soil.
The cardboard aides in retaining moisture in the soil during dry spells and make great pathways in the garden and orchard as long as the ground is level. When I did apply cardboard on sloped areas in the orchard the rains soaked them and I found myself slipping and sliding on my knees and back. So flat areas are highly recommended.
Thank You for the oil test demonstration and the support of utilizing cardboard in the gardens

This makes me feel so much better because we started using cardboard as a weed barrier in our garden pathways this year to try to reduce the amount of weeding we need to do and we don’t have enough money yet for all that mulch. The cardboard worked incredibly well and we get it all for free from my husband’s work. Some of them have staples, so we just removed those before cutting them to the size we needed and laying them down and now everywhere they were we didn’t have any weeds.
We plan to start a couple new beds (in ground) so we wanted to use cardboard over them over winter to kill off the grass and weeds since it’s worked so well for the paths. I also used it in our first raised bed at the base as a weed barrier and this year it didn’t have nearly as many weeds as the in ground beds, but next year will be the real test to see how well it works.
