The Prison Pull Up Method:

Prison is one of the only places on earth where guys regularly crank out 30 legit pull-ups without kipping or cheating.

And the trick they use is WILDLY simple… and WAY more effective than influencer hacks.

But first a quick little tip: add isometric holds at the top, middle, and bottom of the pull up position.

Deconstructing the movement like this builds strength in detail.

You’ll also want to avoid the biggest mistake people make:

Trying to just crank out more reps.

Because studies show rep quality drops by about 35% in the last third of a set once fatigue kicks in.

So the more you chase high numbers, the WORSE you actually train yourself to be at pull ups. Visual: flash words “bad reps = bad habits”

Instead of chasing one big set - use the prison pull-up trick:

Do as many sets of 5 perfect reps as possible.

Five clean reps. Rest. Repeat.

Keep going until you can’t complete a full set.

Want the full breakdown — and the wild history behind it?

Pavel Tsatsouline says you should never go to neuromuscular failure and volume is key. He has a similar 20+ set system but you do ladders. 1 pullup at top of every minute. Then 2,then 3, then 4, then 5. Then back to 1. When you can complete 5 ladders your add weight or use a more difficult variation. Repeat the process.

Many different ways to do it BROTHER! I've done over 100 for awhile training in alot of ways. It's HOW you chase big numbers. You can't always train to failure if you want to recover.

Dam my boy went to prison accept he had us (at the time) doing 10’s until we couldn’t do them then it was 5’s and we alternated grips and everything it was something to be hold.

Most we ever did in a day was 300 I think but I’m sure he’s done more he could do a 1 arm pull up. I still fallow this type of thought do clean reps

Start from the top of the bar at chest level. Hold it. Then descend slowly. Start at 1. Do not stop this drill until you can pull yourself up to that chest level height at 1. Then do 1-3 reps to that chest level. But in multiple sets. 1rep at 5 sets= 5. 3reps x5=15. THE PROPER FORM IS EVERYTHING NOT THE # OF REPS! If your goal is 10 reps? Then that would realistically take you months BUT IT WILL BE WITH PERFECT FORM! I say this because I do not want you to quit after month 1 or get discouraged after 2-3 months. NONE OF YOUR EFFORTS WITH PROPER FORM WILL BE WASTED! YOUR EFFORTS WITH IMPROPER FORM WILL BE! The reason why is the proper form reps will be low at first but the improper reps will be many. So PSYCHOLOGICALLY the number of correct reps will BE LESS REMEMBERED in body=muscle memory & your mind. But the number done IMPROPERLY will be MORE REMEMBERED in body & mind to the point of where you will consciously &/or unconsciously just hit the number of reps you want to hit and you will reinforce that with overall FALSE SATISFACTION instead of REAPING THE TOTAL UPPER BODY BENEFITS of just doing a few reps with proper form. Lastly, Just like with improper dip form...it will almost certainly lead you to bodily injury! & I never want that for anyone! So if you want to do 10-15 reps in 1 set? There is NO SHAME in breaking that rep number into more sets WITH PROPER FORM.❤

Just do pull ups 4-5 times a day most people are not strong enough to get a good workout this way, worked for me went from 2 pull ups to 45 in 2 months.
